Legal awareness & literacy camps for women:
Legal awareness program conducted with the support of National Commission for Women, Govt. of India, New Delhi. We have implemented these programs at Sreerama Nagar, Deva Nagar, Kurnool. The program was conducted for 2 days i.e. from 23rd to 24th Aug ‘2008 at Sreeram Nagar; from 27-28, Aug, 2008 at Deva Nagar; from 30-31 Aug 2008 at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar; from 28-29 Nov, 2009 at Shareen Nagar slums of Kurnool Town.
Objectives of the Programme: 
To impart legal awareness to women and girls on their rights including human rights.
To sensitize the women on their role & status in the community.
To enlighten the women and girls on various legal protections and procedures to approach Police station and Courts.
To create awareness among women on their entitlements.
To conduct legal literacy camps to the destitute women Legal rights activities conducted for the women welfare and development:
We have conducted legal awareness programme on the following topics:
Procedures to approach Police Stations and Courts.
Procedures to seek family counseling
Women Rights and Human Rights.
Legal protections and entitlements for women and girls
Gender equity and status of women in the community.
Women issues like Dowry, Domestic Violence, Eve teasing, work place harassment, sexual exploitation, etc.
Women health issues like reproductive health systems, HIV/AIDS, etc.
We have distributed booklets on women rights, legal protections and court systems to all the 62 participants from sreeram nagar, 59 participants from Deva Nagar, 60 participants from Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, 64 women and girls from the shareen nagar slums of Kurnool Municipal Corporation.
We have provided counseling and clarifications to the specific issues raised by the participants.
We have taken feedback from the participants on impact of the program.
Impact of the legal awareness in India:
• 245 Women were enlightened from the legal literacy camps & awareness programme .
• They understood various legal provisions while approaching the Police Stations and Courts including Lok Adalat and Family Counseling Centres.
• They known various Acts like Dowry Act, Domestic Violence Act, Labour Act, Minimum Wage Act, Child Marriage Act and Laws like Hindu Law, Muslim Law, Christian Law, etc.,
• They aware on women issues including health issues.
• These women were able to organize and fight against atrocities.
• The role and life styles of these women developed positively.
