SERUDS appeal for humanitarian donations for flood affected victims in Andhra Pradesh, India
It has been a dreadful period for the state of Andhra Pradesh with natural calamities of one kind or another bringing death and destruction to the land. Rain havoc and rushing floods on a frightening scale. Andhra Pradesh has taken the biggest hit with 63 deaths so far, four lakh acres of agricultural land have been submerged in Andhra Pradesh and 1.6 million people evacuated. Krishna, Guntur, Nalgonda districts suffered the most in Andhra, although the towns of Kurnool, Mahabubnagar and Nandyal too presented a worrying image with waist-high water all over the urban areas. It is said Andhra Pradesh has not ever known disaster on a scale such as this.
The floods in the Krishna River since 1 October 2009, have been described as the rarest one that could occur once in 10,000 years. SERUDS has initiated assisting the flood affected communities in Kurnool and Mahabub Nagar Districts of Andhra Pradesh. SERUDS would like to utilize the donations to arrange the following:
Dry food items like Rice, Dhal, cooking oil, tamarind, species, etc Sanitary items: soaps, towels utensils Household items like blankets, towels and utensils Medical, health, nutritional clothing, psycho-social needs of children in need Educational Material kits to the school going children Hut Construction / Repairs of destructed houses belong to poorer communities. Biscuits for Children Restoration of livelihoods of the deserving families Donations made to SERUDS for the purpose are entitled for tax exemption u/s 80G, 12A.
